Key Travel Info – The Maldives
The average direct flight time from London to the Maldives is 10 hours and 25 minutes.
The Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR) is the official currency of the Maldives. Some islands also accept the US Dollar (USD).
You will get a 30-day visa on arrival if you enter the Maldives as a tourist from the U.K.
Maldives Time (MVT) is GMT +5 hours. However, some island resorts operate their own time zone, known as Maldives Island Time, which can be up to 2 hours ahead.
The best time to visit the Maldives is between December and April with minimal rain, blue skies and hot sunny weather. Temperatures average around 28°C throughout the year, with the monsoon (rainy) season running between May and October. It is still possible to travel during this time though, and many choose to do so to take advantage of quieter resorts and cheaper prices.
