When it comes to attention to detail, nobody does it like Mandarin Oriental and this is obvious from the moment guests step into the lobby.
A treat for all the senses, visitors are greeted with a forest of light complete with mesmerising trees that glitter, their illuminations reflecting in the palatial white marble floors which provide a sense of cooling relief from the desert heat. At sundown, the pools at the centre of the lobby capture the trees’ lights and mimic the sea beyond in a must-see spectacle which has become known as the ‘canopy of light’.
Mandarin Oriental residents can while away their days in the desert with a trip to the hotel’s spa complete with its curved ceilings and soothing colour scheme. The cocoon-inspired relaxation pods offer the perfect spot to tune out and practice some mindfulness before indulging in some self-care with an indulgent treatment – they even come complete with mandala colouring books.
For indulgence of the other variety, there’s a wealth of drinks and dining options – from the formal to the informal. The spacious Club Lounge is ideal for breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails, which are all perfectly complemented by sweeping views of the Dubai skyline.
The open kitchen at Netsu showcases traditional Japanese cooking and the bold, edgy interiors reflect traditional Japanese theatre with a contemporary edge. Tasca by José Avillez transports guests to Europe and is the two-Michelin- starred chef’s first venture outside of his native Portugal. No detail has been overlooked in the design, food or vibe – from modern twists on traditional dishes, to the largest Portuguese wine selection in the UAE.
