 FINE ART - ANDREW HEWKIN
  A BROADBRUSH APPROACH
THE SIGHTS, SCENT AND SIZZLE OF MALLORCA, EXPERTLY CAPTURED BY THE ARTIST ANDREW HEWKIN
You only need to take one look at Andrew Hewkin’s Cashmere Collection to feel the warm Mediterranean breeze of Mallorca – this exquisite celebration of the island is utterly immersive.
Despite travelling to over 100 countries during his five decades as an artist, it’s Mallorca that stole Andrew’s heart and his love of the land is apparent in every brush stroke. The more he explored, the more he discovered and continues to discover to this day, after countless visits over the last 20 years. It is the magical light that initially captured Andrew’s attention and what has compelled him to produce a complete collection of the island.
Set to open in London in 2023, the exhibition will include oil on canvas pieces capturing the island’s unique beauty and feature the artist’s favourite spots in the place he calls
a sanctuary,
my safe haven and the only place in the world I found I could relax without having to produce paintings.
The majority of paintings were produced during lockdown at a time that Andrew expresses his gratitude for being able to “escape and paint in Mallorca safely dodging all the Covid restrictions whilst adhering to all the rules.” If you’re a lover of Mallorca or simply appreciate the escapism afforded to us by travel, this latest collection of paintings is a must see.
