  DESTINATIONS FOR WINE LOVERS
Saint-Émilion is a charming medieval village located in the heart of the famous Bordeaux wine region. A very unique destination and steeped in history, the village boasts world-class vineyards, fine wine, beautiful architecture and stunning monuments. According to UNESCO, Saint-Émilion is “an outstanding example of an historic vineyard landscape that has survived intact”.
Saint-Émilion owes its excellence as a wine growing area to great soil variety. The diversity of its wines is due to both a complex geology – made up of sand, clay and limestone – and a microclimate that is perfectly suited to winemaking. Combine this with the constant love and attention professionals give to their vines, the village provides the ideal conditions for the nutrition and the maturity of different blends of grape varieties – primarily merlot, blended with cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon or malbec. These varieties ensure Saint- Emilion wines are packed with a wide range of aromas and flavours.
Visitors can come and appreciate the spirit of Saint-Émilion and the quality of its fine wines while enjoying different activities such as winery tours and tastings led by professionals, gourmet picnics and lunches in a wine estate or a blending lesson that sees them create their own wine.
St-Émilion, a town of outstanding beauty and a wine lover’s paradise
Highly recommended wineries to visit include the Château Coutet, Château Bernateau, and Château Beaurang. Sit back, take a sip and soak up the beauty of Saint-Émilion!
